Privacy policy

Grubtrip is operated by Lazy Ventures INC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information Grubtrip collects when you use the app at https://grubtrip.com, why we collect it, who processes it for us, and the choices you have.

What we collect

• Account details. Your email address, which you use to sign in, the display name you choose, and a phone number if you add one. A phone number is used only so family members can add you to their family; we do not send text messages.
• Family invites. When a member adds someone to their family by email or phone before that person has an account, we keep that email or phone number until they sign up or the invite is cancelled.
• Trip details you and your group enter. Trip names and dates, the rental zip code and house amenities, family names, the number of adults and kids in each family, dietary notes, meals, recipes, ingredients, wishlist items and votes, and the amounts each family records as paid.
• Technical information. Basic server logs such as IP address, browser type and the time of a request, kept by our hosting providers to run and secure the service. When something breaks, we record the error, the page it happened on, your browser type and, if you are signed in, your account, so we can fix it.
• Usage events. We record when key actions happen, such as a recipe request, a list build or a cart being sent, to understand how Grubtrip is used and to improve it.

Dietary notes may reveal allergies or other health related preferences. Please enter only what your group needs to plan meals. We do not collect payment card details. All purchases are completed on Walmart.com.

How we use it

• To sign you in and show you the trips you belong to.
• To share trip details with the other members of your trip, and to show a trip preview to anyone who has its invite link.
• To generate recipe suggestions, a merged shopping list, weather summaries, activity ideas and essentials lists.
• To match list items to Walmart products and build your Walmart cart link.
• To calculate estimated budgets and who owes whom.
• To keep the service secure and fix problems.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who processes it for us

• Supabase stores account and trip data and handles sign in emails.
• Netlify hosts the website and runs our server functions.
• Anthropic processes meal ideas, headcounts, dietary notes, pantry items and house details to generate suggestions. We do not send your email address or name.
• Walmart receives product search terms from our servers. When you open your cart link, you go to Walmart.com and Walmart's own privacy policy applies.
• Zippopotam.us and Open-Meteo receive the rental zip code or its coordinates to look up the location and weather.

Invite links

Anyone with a trip's invite link can see a preview of that trip: its name, dates, location, family names and sizes, planned meals and wishlist. Share the link only with people you want to invite. Email addresses are never shown in the preview.

Cookies and browser storage

We use only essential browser storage to keep you signed in and remember your cookie choice. See our cookie policy for details.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and trip data until you delete your account or a trip is deleted. Server logs are kept by our providers for a limited period, typically 30 days or less.

Your choices and rights

You can update your display name and delete your account at any time from your account page. Deleting your account removes your login and profile. Trips you organize pass to another member, and a trip with no other members is deleted. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct or receive a copy of your information. To make a request, email privacy@grubtrip.com.

Children

Grubtrip is meant for adults planning trips. Accounts are not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. Families record only how many kids are coming, not who they are.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited by row level security so only members of a trip can read it, and secret keys are kept on our servers. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a sign in email you control.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and let signed in users know in the app.
